Laurelbank, 3 Kilwinning Road, Irvine

Laurelbank is a house located at 3 Kilwinning Road in Irvine, built around 1830. It is a two-storey, three-bay, shallow L-plan structure featuring painted ashlar stonework, a base course, a crowstepped gable, chamfered reveals, and battered cills.

On the principal elevation (east), there is a central buttressed entrance porch with a round arch and a two-pane semicircular fanlight, complemented by a scrolled keystone, a cornice, and a plain wallhead. Above the porch, there is a window on the first floor. To the left, a tripartite bay with stone mullions is present at the ground floor, with a plain window above on the first floor. The right bay features an advanced gable end with a full-height canted window, a cill course at the first floor, and an armorial panel above a piended roof, topped with a finial at the gablehead. Additionally, there is a single-storey bay with a window to the right.

The northeast elevation is constructed of squared and snecked rubble stone, with a single-storey addition obscuring the ground floor and a window to the right on the first floor, featuring plain raised margins. A hipped ashlar stack is located at the centre.

The west elevation includes harled extensions at both the ground and first floors, along with various outhouses. The house features four, eight, and ten-pane timber sash and case windows, grey/brown slate roofing, and stone skews.

The interior was not seen in 1997. The property is enclosed by rubble stone boundary walls to the south, west, and east, which are squared to the north, and fluted gatepiers.
