Gamekeeper's Cottage, Kelburn Castle Estate, Fairlie

Gamekeeper's Cottage, located on the Kelburn Castle Estate in Fairlie, dates from 1870. This single-storey and attic building is designed in the gothic style, featuring pointed-arch windows, timber barge-boarding, and tall shouldered wallhead stacks. It is situated at the northern end of the estate. The cottage has bracketed, over-hanging eaves and is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone rubble with ashlar margins. The doorway is framed by a basket-arch moulded surround and includes a timber porch supported on stone corbels. The north gable displays a carved quatrefoil plaque, dated 1870, which features a monogram. The roof is covered with grey slate and clay cans, and there are timber-framed, 4-pane glazed windows. The interior was not accessible for viewing in 2016.
