Description
This is a building of the later 19th century, situated at 83-85 Main Street, Kilbirnie. It is a two-storey and attic structure with painted render external walls and ashlar margins. The central door is recessed within a pilastered doorpiece. The right-hand bay features a shop with an enlarged window, alongside a blocked door. Similarly, the left-hand bay has a blocked door and an enlarged shop window. Four sash windows are located on the first floor, three of which retain their original 12-pane glazing. An eaves course runs along the top of the building. A single, modern dormer is present on the right side. Chimneys are located at each end of the roof, which is covered in slate. Decorative ceramic tilework, the work of J. Duncan, is located in the butcher’s shop on the right-hand side.
