Description

This is a mid-19th century building on Newton Street, Kilbirnie. It is two storeys high and originally comprised three bays, with a central doorway. A further bay was later added, curving around the corner. The building is constructed of rubble masonry with ashlar margins. It features a pilastered shop front and a decorative doorway surround. The right bay contains a single window. Four windows on the first floor have been blocked up. Other features include an eaves course, a cornice, and a wall-head pediment with a corniced stack at its apex. The roof is slate-covered and piended at the left. Modern stacks are located at the ends of the building.
