2 Low Green Road, Irvine

This building at 2 Low Green Road in Irvine is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay classical house featuring a rectangular plan with flanking pavilions. The walls are constructed of rubble stone, which is harled and painted on the front and sides, while the stone wings are also painted. The basement, made of exposed rubble stone, includes a base course, eaves band, cornice, blocking course, and raised margins.

The west elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a central masonry staircase that leads to a pilastered and corniced doorpiece, topped with a fanlight featuring geometrical glazing bars. The flanking pavilions are slightly recessed. The south elevation has one window on the second floor to the left, with the eaves cornice and blocking course continuing across. An advanced wing on this side has no openings, and the boundary wall is flush with the gable end, which includes a gateway.

The north elevation mirrors the symmetry of the south but has no openings or features, with a boundary wall against the gable end. The west elevation features a central semi-circular stair tower with a window between the first and second storeys. The building has 12-pane timber sash windows and piended roofs covered in grey slate, with wallhead stacks on the south and north sides.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1996. The boundary wall to the south is harled, while the wall to the west has been removed to create a car parking space. The walls to the north and east are shared with neighboring properties.
