Cottage, Claddach Carinish, North Uist

This is a probably 19th-century Hebridean-type thatched cottage located in Claddach Carinish, North Uist, with an adjoining byre. The cottage is a single storey with a three-bay east-facing front that features a central door. Its walls are constructed of rubble and have a slightly battered appearance, with end stacks. The roof is made of muran thatch, which is secured with netting and stone weights over the inner wallhead. The byre is also built from rubble and has an east-facing door, topped with a gabled roof made of corrugated iron. In front of the cottage, there is a pavement, and to the rear, a stackyard is clearly indicated by raised circular stone stack stands.
