Description
The Our Lady Of The Isles Statue, created by Hew Lorimer in 1956, is a prominent and monumental statue made of white granite. It features a semi-naturalist style depiction of the Madonna holding the Christ-child at shoulder height. The child has his right hand raised in blessing and his left hand resting lightly on the crowned head of the Madonna. Both figures are elongated and dressed in simplified columnar robes. The statue is significantly located on raised ground in a remote and isolated setting, enclosed by a low stone wall at the end of a long, straight stone path.
