Sponish House, Lochmaddy, North Uist

Sponish House is an early 19th century, two-storey house with a basement, situated on sloping ground. It features a single-storey wing on the right and a three-storey wing added in the later 19th century on the left. The exterior is rendered.

The entrance elevation has a gabled porch that is raised above a flight of steps leading to the centre, with a boarded door. The windows are arranged regularly, with two windows on both the basement and ground floors, and three windows on the first floor, which are bipartite in the centre. The single-storey wing has two windows, while the left wing has two windows on each floor.

The house originally had timber two-pane sash and case windows, although the glazing has since been removed. The roof is missing, but tall coped gable stacks from the original block still remain.
