Description
Askernish House is a farmhouse built in 1835, featuring two storeys and three bays, along with a full-height, single bay rear wing. The exterior is harled, with contrasting painted ashlar margins. The west elevation includes a piended central porch with a door located in the re-entrant angle. The windows are 12-pane sash and case, with a 4-pane window at the centre of the first floor. There are single bays on either side, and the building has symmetrically placed axial stacks topped with a piended slate roof. A modern sun lounge has been added to the southeast.
The house is set within a quadrangular garden enclosure, which includes rubble-built gatepiers and walls, with some sections partly renewed in brick towards the east next to a modern office. There are square gatepiers to the west, each topped with pyramidal caps.
