Description

South Boisdale Burial Ground in South Uist is a quadrangular cemetery enclosure. It features rubble-built walls with an iron fence and a gate on the east side. The site contains mostly 19th and 20th century stone and concrete monuments, while the principal burial enclosure dates back to the mid-18th century. This enclosure has rectangular-plan rubble-built walls with red ashlar dressings, a base course, and rusticated quoins that continue as square pinnacles. There is a wide, segmental archway on the east side and a pedimented panel on the west. Additionally, there are simple rectangular enclosures to the north and south.
