Description
Kirkhill Burial Ground in Elgin is a polygonal walled burial site located on the grounds of an early church. The burial ground features earlier 19th century rubble walls that have a tooled rounded cope. There are also a pair of square gatepiers made of tooled ashlar, which have deep cornices at the tops, and a pair of cast-iron carriage gates with spearhead designs. The site includes tombstones from the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries, and later. Additionally, there is a square private burial enclosure from the earlier 18th century, constructed of rubble and featuring moulded ashlar jambs for the doorpiece and a moulded cornice along the wallhead.
