Description
The Old Parish Church in Ardersier features a square walled burial ground dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed from high-quality squared tooled rubble with cherry cocking and a tooled ashlar coping. At the entrance, there are a pair of square tooled ashlar gate piers that have a moulded cornice and shaped pyramidal caps, which once supported ball finials. The burial ground contains notable 18th and 19th century tombstones. Additionally, there is an early 19th century rectangular watchhouse built into the northwest angle of the site. This structure is made of rubble with tooled ashlar dressings, featuring an entrance on the east elevation, two small vents on the east and south walls, end stacks, and a slate roof.
