Description

The Market Cross in High Street, Forres, was designed by Thomas Mackenzie in 1844. This pinnacled mercat cross is modeled on the Scott Monument in Edinburgh. It features a stepped plinth with four octagonal piers that support pinnacles and are arched to the central pier. Above, there are corbelled niches topped with capping pinnacles, and at the center, there is a small tiered and gabletted pinnacle crowned with a cross.
