Description
100 High Street in Forres is a building from the later 18th century, featuring three storeys and an attic with three bays. The ground floor has a polished ashlar bank facade, which dates from around 1900, and there is a narrow entrance leading to a pend. The first and second floors are constructed of coursed ashlar, topped with a shaped gable and polished ashlar dressings. All windows have raised margins and moulded cills, with the lintels connected by band courses. The windows are 12-pane sashes, with the second-floor windows being shorter than those on the first floor. The building has coped panelled stacks and a slate roof. At the rear of the building, over the pend, there is a small, worn coat of arms that appears to be from the Royal Burgh of Forres. Inside, the ground floor features an enriched egg and dart plaster frieze.
