Description
St John's Episcopal Church and Church Hall, located on St John's Place in Aberdeen, was designed by Thomas Mackenzie of Mackenzie and Matthews and constructed between 1849 and 1851. The tower, originally intended for a spire, was completed later. The north aisle and vestry were added by Pirie and Clyne in 1898. The church features a mid-pointed design with an aisled nave, chancel, and transept, along with a battlemented porch and tower. Inside, the chancel arch has a mural above it, showcasing a fine scheme of chancel decoration, although this is partly obscured by a later decorative scheme.
