Description
The Market Entrance at 57 South Street in Elgin was built in 1851. It features a tall painted ashlar triumphal arch with a pilastered round arch and a mask keystone, all set within broad pilasters. The structure has a frieze and a modillion cornice, with a blocking course that is raised in the center. On either side of the main entrance, there are lower flat-headed entrances.
