Description
The building comprises a late 19th-century schoolhouse and a school building, situated at Tombae. The schoolhouse is a single-storey and attic west-facing dwelling with three bays. It is constructed of rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. A central doorway is present, along with two canted dormers. The windows have 2-pane and 4-pane glazing, with coped end stacks and a slate roof. A plaque inscribed with "WS" is set into the south gable, decorated with a carved leaf.
Adjacent to the schoolhouse, built against its north gable to create an L-shaped plan, is a school building dated 1903. This is a single-storey rectangular structure featuring a long four-bay north elevation, also of rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. An off-centre, corniced entrance is located in the east gable, while the west gable has a large tripartite window. A slightly projecting gabled wallhead stack is centrally positioned on the north elevation, flanked by windows. A cross is placed in the chimney gablet. Decorative cast-iron apex finials top the building, and the slate roof includes decorative pottery ridges and ridge ventilators.
