North Range, Stables And Cartsheds, Ballindalloch Castle

The North Range, comprising stables and cartsheds, dates from around 1800 and is situated on the site of the former Mains farm at Ballindalloch Castle. The building is a symmetrical, single-storey and loft range, facing west, with nine bays. It is constructed of grey rubble with contrasting tooled pink granite dressings. The central three bays are slightly advanced and feature a pediment, with three round-headed cartsheds and loft windows above – one of which has an eight-pane sash window. The flanking three-bay sections contain stable doors centrally. Piended loft entrances break the wallhead in the north and south gables, and the roof is covered with slate. The interior contains no surviving stable fittings. The range was likely intended for farm horses and carts.
