Description
The central range of stables and cartsheds at Ballindalloch Castle dates to around 1800. This symmetrical, single-storey and loft structure faces west and comprises a nine-bay stable range. The building is constructed from grey rubble with contrasting, tooled pink granite dressings. The central three bays are slightly advanced and feature a pediment, with three round-headed cartsheds and loft windows above, one of which has an eight-pane sash window. The flanking three-bay sections feature a central door each. Piended loft entrances break the wallhead in the north and south gables, and the roof is covered in slate. The interior contains no surviving stable fittings. The building was likely intended for farm horses and carts, being situated on the site of the former Mains farm.
