Wynn's Store, 9A Moss Street, Elgin

Wynn's Store, located at 9A Moss Street in Elgin, was built by A and W Reid between 1857 and 1858. This Gothic-style building features tooled ashlar stone with polished ashlar dressings. The east gable facing Moss Street has an advanced three-stage central tower that includes a pointed arched, moulded recessed porch, with a decorated traceried window above. Originally, there were clock faces under a pointed hoodmould at the top of the second stage, but these have since been removed. The upper stage of the tower is crenellated and has four louvred traceried windows, along with truncated angle pinnacles and diagonal angle buttresses.

The building has four-bay buttressed flanks, which also feature traceried windows beneath pointed hoodmoulds, with alternate buttresses. The roof is covered with slate.
