Description
Dounduff Lodge, located at Darnaway Castle, was designed by A & W Reid in 1873. This asymmetrical, gabled, two-storey gate lodge features a three-bay west-facing elevation that faces the road. The building is constructed of tooled rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. Near the center, there is an entrance with a plank door that has ornamental cast-iron hinges. To the left of the entrance, there is an advanced gabled bay with a tripartite window on the ground floor, featuring two-pane glazing. The lodge is topped with paired ridge and end tall coped octagonal stacks, flat skews with shaped skewputts, and apex finials, all under a steeply pitched slate roof.
