Description

Hythe Hill is a single-storey asymmetrical villa built around 1847, featuring later additions. The structure is made of rubble with finely tooled dressings. The east elevation has three bays and includes a central portico with a pediment, supported by two square pillars and two pilasters that have anthemion-decorated capitals. On the south elevation, which faces the garden, there is a central round-headed niche flanked by canted bays, and a small bowed wing with a balustrade to the west. Some windows have panelled aprons, and the villa has deep eaves courses. The rear of the building has extensive additions.

Originally a gighouse and stable, the building has been converted for garage use. It features rubble with ashlar dressings and is harled on the rear elevation facing the street. There is a pair of square monolith gatepiers with worn pyramidal caps. The property also includes rubble garden walls with stone copes, as well as dressed stone terracing and flights of steps leading to the riverside garden.
