Description

West Lodge in Orton is a single-storey estate lodge built in 1851 by Thomas Mackenzie. It faces east and features three bays. The building is constructed of rubble with contrasting tooled ashlar dressings. The central entrance has a shouldered lintel and a gabled canopied porch supported by a pair of rustic wooden columns. On either side of the entrance are hoodmoulded 2-light windows with 4-pane glazing. The lodge has coped end stacks and a slate roof with projecting eaves and decorative bargeboards.
