Description
The Tollhouse at Boat O' Brig, designed by William Robertson in 1830, is a single-storey, five-bay classical structure facing north. It features harled walls with ashlar margins and dressings. The building has a pedimented, baseless Roman Doric tetrastyle portico and a deep string-coursed entablature. Narrow windows are located on either side of the doorway, with slightly wider windows in the outer bays, and an additional single window in the east gable facing the road. The windows have 4- and 12-pane glazing. The roof is shallow and piended, covered with slate, and there are three short corniced stacks. A small lean-to addition has been added to the rear. Inside, the tollhouse has a simple two-roomed layout.
