Description
The Generator House at Altyre House was designed by John Kinross around 1902. It features an asymmetrical roughly cruciform plan and is a two-storey structure with steeply pitched crow-stepped gables. The building is constructed of random rubble with contrasting tooled ashlar margins and dressings. The front elevation, which is set back, has regular fenestration with multi-pane glazing.
On the northern elevation, there are two large entrances, including one original garage entrance that has double leaf doors with original hand-wrought iron hinges. A forestair at the northeast angle provides access to a first-floor doorway on the northern gable. The roof is made of stone slate and is topped with a square leaded louvred ridge cupola on the western side.
