Description
1 Wardend Cottages in Altyre is a south-facing, two-storey terrace of three asymmetrical houses, designed by W L Carruthers around 1900. The exterior features harled walls with tooled ashlar margins and dressings. Each house has a door near the center, flanked by either bipartite or tripartite windows. Houses 1 and 3 each have two pedimented dormers, with a mix of single and two-light windows, and a small bipartite window above the entrance. The center house, number 2, has a substantial four-light pedimented dormer with blocked cills. The upper lights of the sash windows have multi-pane glazing. The cottages have coped end and ridge stacks, and a slate roof. There are various extensions at the rear and some modern dormers.
