Description
Gorebridge Station, built around 1847, is a two-storey, three-bay former railway station that has been converted into a public house. The building is constructed from squared and snecked tooled sandstone, featuring droved dressings, a base course, long and short quoins, and deep overhanging eaves.
The northwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, is symmetrical with an advanced pilastered pedimented doorway at the center of the ground floor. It has a replacement glazed door with a letterbox fanlight and a glazed panel to the left, along with windows in the flanking bays. The first floor shows regular fenestration.
The southwest elevation is asymmetrical and consists of four bays. It has a 20th-century harled porch that is advanced to the center of the ground floor, with a window off-center to the left and a door to the right. There is a glazed timber door with a glazed panel to the left of the left return, and concrete steps with iron railings to the right of the porch. A panelled timber door is located on the first floor. The outer left bay is blank, while the penultimate bay to the right and the outer right bay display regular fenestration. There is also a harled single-storey 20th-century addition at the outer right angle.
The southeast elevation is blank, with harled additions at the left and right corners.
The northeast elevation is asymmetrical and has three bays. An advanced gabled bay is located at the outer right, featuring a pilastered pedimented bipartite window on the ground floor, with a blind window above it. There is a harled lean-to addition on the ground floor of the center and left bays, with boarded timber doors for each bay and a window to the right. The first floor shows regular fenestration.
The building predominantly features seven-pane timber sash and case windows. It has a grey slate roof with a lead ridge and coped sandstone gablehead stacks with circular cans. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
