Miller's House, 44-46 Ironmills Road, Dalkeith

Miller's House, located at 44-46 Ironmills Road in Dalkeith, is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house with a later two-storey addition to the north. The building is constructed from squared and snecked rubble, featuring ashlar dressings, an eaves course, chamfered margins, and droved rybats.

The principal elevation faces east and includes the entrance for No 46 Ironmills Road, which has a door with a five-pane strip fanlight at the center of the original three bays. The entrance for No 44 Ironmills Road is located in the left bay of the recessed addition to the right and features a door with a two-pane fanlight. The fenestration is regularly arranged on both the ground and first floors, with square windows on the first floor.

The south elevation has a narrow one-and-a-half storey gabled porch to the left on a blank gable, which connects to a wing linking to the Iron Mill (listed separately) to the south. There is a door on the right return with a four-pane strip fanlight.

The north elevation is blank, with a garden wall adjoining it at the center. The west elevation is five bays wide and fenestrated.

The house features sash and case windows, with a 16-pane glazing pattern for the main house and a 12-pane glazing pattern for the addition. The building has coped skews, gablehead stacks, and is covered with grey slates.
