Shelter, Old Edinburgh Court, Old Edinburgh Road, Inverness

The Shelter at Old Edinburgh Court on Old Edinburgh Road in Inverness was designed by William Lawrie between 1859 and 1860. This building features a harled exterior and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a total of twelve bays. The outer bays are advanced and gabled, while the central three bays are higher and more prominent, forming a three-storey, three-bay block with a slightly recessed centre flanked by gabled outer bays. The central three bays have tripartite windows on the ground and first floors, and the second floor features a window with gabletted dormerheads. There are modern dormers on the wings, and the building has a slated roof. A modern entrance is located at the centre, and there is an archway at the entrance dated 1860, which is harled with ashlar dressings. This archway includes a small gabled block with strongly battered buttresses and a round-arched, key-blocked pend.
