Description

No. 7, Corran, is an early to mid-19th century example of a row of four single-storey cottages, representing a rare and complete surviving illustration of a West Highland crofting and fishing community. The cottages are arranged in a row with three bays each, featuring central doors. Constructed of white-washed rubble stone with substantial footings, they have ridge stacks and slate roofs, with the end cottages having piended gables. Most windows are fitted with two panes of glass. A right-hand window at No. 8 has been enlarged, and modern glazing is present at No. 6. The row appears on the 1872 Ordnance Survey map. The statutory address for the group is 5, 6, 7, and 8 Corran.
