Description
This early 20th century cottage, built after 1903, is a small single-storey traditional structure with three bays. It is constructed of dry stone rubble, featuring rounded corners and slightly battered walls. The northeast frontage has a central entrance flanked by enlarged windows that have 4-pane glazing, and a horizontally divided plank door. There is an additional window in the center of the northwest gable added later. The southeast gable has an end wallhead stack.
The cottage is topped with a piended rush thatch roof, which is secured with turf divots, fishing net, and various weights and stones. At the ridge apices, there are a pair of "raven sticks." Inside, the cottage consists of a single room that is divided by a roughly constructed timber box bed. The overall dimensions of the cottage are approximately 22 feet by 13 feet.
