Description

Pentland Lodge, located on Granville Street in Thurso, was built in 1770 and underwent repairs in 1831. The building is harled with contrasting painted ashlar margins and dressings. It features a symmetrical two-storey, three-bay southeast frontage from 1770, with a central shallow corniced and pilastered door piece that includes a panelled door in a gabled bay topped with an apex stack. The ground floor windows on either side are corniced.

To the southwest, there is a low two-storey, narrow two-bay gabled wing, accompanied by a single-storey, single-bay piended wing and a modern sun porch. The large rear wing, which houses the dining and drawing rooms, is also two-storey and features a projecting gabled wallhead stack. The northwest piended gable has large tripartite windows on both the ground and first floors, while the southwest elevation includes large single windows. The glazing consists of four- and twelve-pane configurations, and there are corniced end stacks on the roof, which is slate.

The property is further enhanced by garden walls, including a rubble-walled garden to the east and additional rubble walls enclosing the grounds, all topped with drystone copes.
