Description
23 Rose Street in Thurso is a terrace of three single-storey houses built in the mid to late 19th century. The houses are constructed from droved ashlar with polished ashlar dressings. Each house features an advanced gabled centre bay, which includes finialled angle pilasters, blind side lights, a moulded string course, and a central door. The left bay of houses 21 and 25, as well as the right bay of house 23, have tripartite windows. The windows are fitted with 4-pane glazing, and the houses have corniced end stacks that contribute to a stepped roofline. The roofs are covered with slate and have stone ridges. There are low ashlar coped rubble retaining walls, and each house is accompanied by a pair of square dressed rubble gate piers topped with pyramidal caps, along with a pedestrian gate.
