Description
This is a range of buildings dated 1907-8, designed by W L Carruthers. It forms an L-shaped plan, with a south-facing arm that was originally the laundry, and a west-facing range extending to a single storey and attic. The walls are harled, with dressings in red sandstone. The building features bipartites on a three-bay cottage and on the laundry cottage. There are five dormers with bargeboards. The roof is slate. The plans show the original layout included a stable, a carriage house, and a motor house, alongside the cottage and laundry accommodation. The laundry has since been converted into a dwelling. The range is an interesting example of early private garaging. Plans dated December 1907 are held at the National Monuments Record of Scotland.
