Description
The Main Range, Stable and Laundry at Allangrange House were designed by W L Carruthers and built in 1907-8. The building forms an “L” shape; the south-facing arm was originally the laundry, and the west-facing range is a single storey with an attic. The walls are harled with red sandstone ashlar dressings. The three-bay cottage section and the laundry cottage feature bipartite windows. Five bargeboarded dormers light the attic space. The roof is slate. Original plans indicate a stable, carriage house, and a motor house located alongside the cottage and laundry. The laundry has been converted into a dwelling. These buildings represent interesting examples of early private garaging. Plans dated December 1907 are held at the National Monuments Record of Scotland.
