Description
The steading dates to 1766 and was repaired in both 1791 and 1842, with further repairs and additions undertaken in 1870. The main steading is a two-storey and attic, three-bay structure with a central doorway. It is constructed of red rubble with ashlar dressings and features a slightly projecting, pedimented central bay. The doorway has been altered with later windows, and there are two small gablet dormers. A single-storey wing extends to the rear, and there are end stacks. The roof is slated.
A further range of farm offices, cartbays, and a byre with an enclosed yard was built in rubble in 1842. This steading also has a slate roof. The former parish church was located nearby. Historic records, including The Statistical Account of 1794, newspaper advertisements from 1842 and 1870, detail the building’s history and developments.
