Description
This is a mid-18th century cottage terrace, originally comprising two rows of four dwellings each, situated in Glenelg Village. The buildings are all harled except for number 4, which is built of painted rubble. Each row features six bays, and the cottages are arranged symmetrically with six small windows on the first floor. The two cottages at the southern end each have three bays with a central door, which are now largely obscured by later projecting gabled porches. Most windows retain their original four panes of glass, although some still have twelve. The roof is slate, with a piended profile, and there are regular ridge stacks. The buildings are said to have served as officers' quarters for Bernera Barracks. The terrace includes the Post Office and several other properties, all formerly associated with the barracks.
