Description
Drumtearn is a mid-18th century terrace of six dwellings located in Glenelg Village. The buildings are arranged in two mirrored rows, each containing three dwellings, for a total of six. Number 4 is constructed of painted rubble, while the rest of the terrace is harled. The design features two storeys and six bays per row. The first floor has six symmetrically placed small windows. The two houses at the south end of the terrace each consist of three bays, originally featuring a central doorway, which is now masked by later, projecting gabled porches. Most windows have four panes of glass, although some retain the original twelve-pane configuration. The roof is slate, with a piended design, and there are regular ridge stacks. It is believed that Drumtearn served as officers' quarters for Bernera Barracks.
