Description
Berriedale Manse is a two-story, three-bay manse built in 1826, with later additions dating to 1900. The original section was designed by Thomas Telford. A two-story, single-bay addition is set into the south gable, featuring a long, low-sloping roof to the east and an asymmetrical, pointed-headed entrance with a hoodmould on the southeast face. The exterior is harled with exposed, tooled stone margins. A four-light window is found in the south gable, whilst the first floor of the newer wing has bi-parting windows. The original projecting porch at the north gable remains. The building has corniced ridge, end, and wallhead stacks, bargeboards to the newer wing, and slate roofing. The manse no longer serves as a manse. The date of the additions was provided by the current owner. References can be found in Groome's Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland and the New Statistical Account.
