Stewart Mausoleum, Cill Dhonnaig, Bonnavoulin

The Stewart Mausoleum in Cill Dhonnaig, Bonnavoulin, dates from around 1829 and is a square burial structure built from finely finished ashlar stone. It is a single-storey building featuring a pointed-headed recessed entrance on the south side, which is adorned with a hoodmould and nookshafts. The entrance is secured by a cast-iron gate that has intersecting tracery and is decorated with quatrefoil motifs.

The mausoleum has narrow, blind, hoodmoulded, pointed-headed windows on the other sides. It is accentuated by facetted angle pilasters that extend through a continuous moulded eaves cornice to a crenellated wallhead. The roof is a shallow pyramidal design made of stone slabs. Above the entrance, there is a marble plaque set in a raised ashlar panel.
