Description
Glenmorvern Cottage is a later 19th century, symmetrical two-storey, five-bay house with a rear wing. The house is painted and weatherboarded, standing on brick foundations, and features contrasting painted architraves. The southwest front is partially obscured at the ground floor by a continuous decorative cast-iron verandah that is partially glazed. The central door is flanked by longer ground floor windows compared to those on the first floor. There is a central window on both the ground and first floors in the southeast return gable, and paired diminutive first-floor windows in the northwest. The house has moulded wooden architraves, 12-pane glazing, some external window shutters, and paired centre ridge stacks topped with original decorative coped cans. The roof is shallow piended and covered with slate.
The two-storey, two-bay rear wing is an earlier 19th century structure, harled and featuring a centre ridge stack and a piended slate roof.
The property includes an earlier 19th century walled garden located on a southwest sloping site, with coped rubble walls that are higher at the rear and rounded at the front. The northeast face of the rear wall is filled by a continuous lean-to range of bothies, some of which have windows and a door leading to the garden. This terminates with a single-storey, three-bay cottage that has end stacks and a slate roof.
