Description
The Maclean Burial Ground in Ardnish, Coll, dates from 1835 and features a square-plan burial enclosure. The prominent north façade has three bays and is flanked by tall cruciform-plan ashlar corner towers that have carved crucifixes. There is a pointed-arch entrance with smaller blind arches on either side, all linked by a hoodmould. The front and rear elevations have stepped parapets, while the side elevations display three carved sandstone strip details and a cruciform detail at the rear. The walls are constructed of rubble with sandstone dressings. The towers have a battered base course, and the principal elevation and towers feature a moulded parapet eaves course, with flat copes on the wallheads. The corners are marked by margined quoins, and there is a plain wrought-iron gate located within the enclosure.
