Description
The King James Bridge at Balnagown Castle is an 18th-century rubble bridge of high arched single span design, featuring long causeway approaches. A late 18th-century addition consists of spearhead railings in the central section of the bridge. Later in the 19th century, bullfaced masonry approach parapets were added, incorporating ashlar copes. The single arch ring has chamfered ashlar dressing. The causeway includes buttresses. The bridge spans the River Balnagown.
