Description
This is a late 19th-century cottage ornée, located within the grounds of Balnagown Castle. The building is constructed of coursed red rubble with tooled dressings. The symmetrical south elevation features two storeys and three bays. Ground floor windows are only present in the outer bays, while a long window extends across the center of the first floor. A canted bay window rises to the first floor in the west gable. A slightly projecting wing extends to the rear, with the entrance positioned in the re-entrant angle. All windows are mullioned and transomed, with lattice pane glazing. The roof is deeply overhanging and piended, with slate tiles, raised above the central first-floor window, and wide white painted eaves supported by carved brackets. A central ridge chimney is present, along with a chimney on the rear wing.
