Description
The dovecot at Uiginish, Skye, dates from the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a tall, thin square tower that serves as the central core for a later square rubble building, likely used as a hen house, which has been constructed around it. The dovecot features a panel of southeast-facing flight holes and contains 76 wooden boxes for the birds. The hen house is heated and has a small chimney at the rear, with a door and window located on the south side. Both the dovecot and hen house are topped with pyramidal slate roofs.
