Description
The stables and saw mill at Dunvegan Castle, dating from the earlier 19th century, form a U-shaped stable range with a south-facing courtyard and a five-bay west elevation. The building is constructed from coursed rubble with contrasting pale tooled dressings. Each south gable end of the U features paired segmental-headed carriage houses, with shallow tripartites located above them. The wide five-bay west elevation has outer bays that are slightly advanced, showcasing round-headed windows set in round-arched recesses, with a blind window on the southwest side. The roof is piended and covered with slate. On the north side of the stables, there is a saw mill that features an overshot wheel fed by a lade carried on a ramp.
