Description

This is a pair of two-storey cottages built in 1863 by A & W Reid, of Elgin and Inverness. They are located at Tomich. Each cottage is L-shaped, with paired gables facing southeast towards the lane. The entrances are positioned in the angles where the wings meet. The walls are constructed of harl-rendered rubble with dressed stone edges. The cottages feature wide, three-light windows on the ground floor of the projecting gables, and similar two-light windows on the first floor above and within the return gables. The casement windows have horizontal glazing patterns. A central ridge of chimneys rises between the two cottages, and the roof is slate-covered with projecting eaves. A modern, harl-rendered lean-to has been added to the rear. Further details relating to the statutory address and archival records are available at Moray District Record Office, Forres, under reference DAWP 1232.
