Description
This is a single-storey and attic cottage, built in 1865 by A & W Reid of Elgin and Inverness. It is a symmetrical three-bay design, constructed of rubble with dressed stone detailing. The central bay is slightly advanced and gabled, featuring a round-headed entrance with a plank door, long cast-iron hinges, and a semi-circular fanlight above. Wide three-light windows are located on either side of the entrance. Gabled dormers are positioned in the outer bays, and a small, single window is in the north-west return gable. The windows are fitted with lattice-pane glazing. Coped end stacks rise from the roof, which is slate-covered with projecting eaves. A short section of coped rubble wall containing a pair of round-headed arches screens a service area at the north-east gable. Drawings indicate the original plan did not include the dormer windows.
