Description

The Golspie Railway Viaduct is a high single-span bridge built between 1870 and 1871. It crosses the Golspie Burn. The viaduct is constructed from rubble with dressed rubble facing, featuring a single arch ring, and a low parapet also of dressed rubble. Some concrete buttressing provides additional support. As noted by John Hume in The Industrial Archaeology of Scotland, volume 2, page 317, the viaduct is an important example of railway infrastructure from the late 19th century.
