Description

Brae Rannoch, located at 13 Drummond Crescent in Inverness, is a building likely designed by Matthews & Lawrie around 1865, showcasing a Germanic-Italianate style. It is constructed from rough ashlar with ashlar dressings and composition ornamentation.

The building features two storeys and a three-bay northwest front, with the right-hand bay being advanced and gabled. This bay includes a ground floor bow window supported by lotus-capital engaged columns and a broad eaved roof with cresting. The first floor has a stilted round-arched bipartite window. The central entrance is marked by a round-arched doorpiece flanked by attached columns with foliated capitals. To the left, there is a bipartite window on the ground floor, while all first-floor windows are designed with stilted round arches.

The northeast elevation also consists of three bays, featuring a right-hand canted bay window on the ground floor. The building is adorned with bargeboards and other unique details. Adjacent to the main structure is a one-storey and attic cottage on the east side, which has one window and one door. The garden wall is made of rubble, and the gatepiers are of composition, topped with shell decorations.
